Design
Making our Packaging Recyclable
We strive to make all our plastic bottles, aluminum cans, aluminum bottles and and glass bottles recyclable. Some beverages are served in alternative materials, so we are working with suppliers to change or redesign those packages.
We have continued to transition Sprite plastic bottles from green to clear PET to help increase the efficiency of recycling systems. The move, which the brand has completed or is in process in 10 countries in Africa, improves the efficiency of recycling systems and boosts availability of food-grade rPET. Clear Sprite PET has been introduced in South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana, Uganda, Zambia and Malawi.

Increasing Recycled Materials
The use of recycled content in primary packaging can help reduce the company’s emissions. This effort, combined with innovations such as lightweighting, can help avoid the additional use of virgin plastic.**
Refillable Packaging
We intend to invest to expand the use of refillable packaging in markets where infrastructure is in place to support this important part of the company’s portfolio.

Other Key Sustainability Areas
Sustainability
We act in ways to create a more sustainable and better shared future. To make a difference in people’s lives, communities and our planet by doing business the right way.
Packaging
We aim to help ensure the collection of 70% to 75% of the equivalent number of bottles and cans we introduce into the market annually by 2035.

Water
Since 2015, the Coca-Cola system has returned more than 100% of the water used in our finished products globally, on an aggregate level, to nature and communities. Moving forward, we will also seek to return 100% of the total water used in each of our more than 200 high-risk locations* across the Coca-Cola system by 2036.
