Unemployed graduates get set for the world of work

A group of 700 unemployed university graduates in five cities are to receive skills development training that will equip them for the world of work and make them more employable, with the support of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa in Ethiopia.

The training started in Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa and will be rolled out in Ambo, Bahir Dar and Hawassa.

“As the biggest bottler on the continent, accounting for 40% of Coca-Cola volumes sold in Africa, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) takes pride in our vision to refresh Africa and make the continent a better place for all,” said Nigus Alemu, Public Affairs, communication and Sustainability Director.

“We understand that our business can only thrive when the communities we serve thrive too. Investing in communities ensures our business sustainability.

“We aim to create inclusive growth opportunities for women, youth and people with disabilities by defining a consistent way of implementing economic inclusion programmes across our markets drawing on leading practice for implementing our programmes.

“Our employability programmes focus on up-skilling, re-skilling or providing other opportunities that enhance our target group’s prospects of finding sustainable employment.

“The success of these programmes will be defined by the extent to which we boost income, unlock sustainable earning potential, improve skills and business knowledge for our graduates resulting in access to economic opportunities.

“Whether donating money, our time or our expertise, we take our responsibility to the communities we call home seriously,” said Alemu.
